Hon Dr Ayew Afriyie's desperate attempt on Wontumi TV, to reduce the significance of "Aduru Alan So" by referring to the need for a "star" witness in the 2012 election petition, is a laughable insult to the traditions and intelligence of NPP delegates.
Significantly, the entire Party invested all its resources, material, physical, technical, human and financial, in then Candidate Nana Addo and his Veep Nominee, backed by the Party leadership, to win NPP power in 2012 and continue the good governance of Kufuor.
Unfortunately, we the NPP, lost the election (the second in a row with the same candidate). As leaders and losing Candidates, Nana Addo, Bawumia and then Party Chairman- the late Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey-rose to challenge the electoral verdict in the belief that the election was unfair.
In that circumstance, is it the position of Dr Afriyie that someone else should have led the court process? Any well thinking Ghanaian knows and accepts that it was the duty of the Petitioners to lead the process in court and that it fell to Dr. Bawumia to do so on behalf of the others.
The responsibility to lead and win always rests with the chosen candidate. That is why after sixteen years in charge-eight years in opposition and eight in power-the Party is looking for a new dynamic in leadership. A leadership to renew and reward the Party.
If going to court to justify an electoral loss is a supreme sacrifice deserving of reward, is Hon Ayew and H.E. the two term Vice President saying the Office of Vice President is not enough reward? How many veterans of the Party have been Vice Presidential Nominees and actual Vice President for a cumulative period of sixteen years? Longer at the helm of the Party than any other pair in the history of the NPP in the 4th Republic. Indeed, H.E Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has benefited more from the NPP than all the people he came to meet.
Aduru Wo So is about those who courageuosly showed up at the birth of the Party in a dangeruos era, and sacrificed their financial, time, reputational and skill resources to nurture the Party. Alan sacrificed the opportunity to be Candidate twice, to Kufuor and Nana Addo, at a time Bawumia was no where near the risk of being NPP.
Brought in by Nana Addo in 2007 and offered the Veepship on a silver platter, he now demands the "Abusuapanyin" as of right? On what basis? That he went to court? To lose a case after losing an election? That is the building block expected to overcome the foundation of "Aduru Alan So"?
NPP grassroots delegates will decide.

My friend the NPP’s best bet is Bawumia in this difficult situation in Ghana. The sub-Saharan calls it tribalism whereas the western world nicely calls it identity politics. Between Bawumia and Alan who can canvass for votes in the traditional ndc strongholds thus the non Akans and the Moslem community? Why is that all the so-called intellectuals who are aligned with the ndc but pretend to be neutral are advocating for the npp not to vote for Bawumia because he is the face of the npp economic team. Listen to the csos like Asepas shouting at the top of their voices to the Npp that the people of Ghana will never accept Bawumia because of the economic crisis we are in right now. A vote for Bawumia is a win for the Npp. There will be no pathway for JM when Bawumia is the presidential candidate for the grand old party.
Characters like Richard Nyamah will spell doom for the party if this is the way his Allan team wants to chart.Nyame should tell the whole Ghana were in the NPP constitution state emphatically that presidential slot is based on how long you have been with party . Between Allan and kofi konadu Apraku who is older in the party per their unrefined slogan "Aduro me so". Look, young men in the party should be careful with their unrefined commentary when the party is due for presidential candidates selection .Honestly , such characters and behaviors are recipe for defeat irrespective of good works done
SIR I BEG TO DIFFER. THE VEEP LEFT HIS JOB , ( SACRIFICED HIS CAREER ) TO BE WHERE HE IS AND EQUALLY ELIGIBLE TO CONTEST FOR THE FLAG BEARER SLOT. TO SAY HE HAS BEEN REWARDED WITH THE VEEP POSITION IS AN INSULT. WHO AMONG THE TOP 3 IS MORE EDUCATED AND EXPERIENCED IN GOVERNANCE THAN HIM. FOR CRY OUT LOUD HE HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT VICE PRESIDENT FOR TWO TERMS AND HAS CLOSER EXPERIENCE TO THE PRESIDENT THAN ALL. IF GOD DOES NOT WANT HIM TO BE THE ONE THATS FINE BUT TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE OTHERS ARE MORE DESERVING THAN HIM IS PURE FOUL. EACH ONE OF THEM HAVE CONTRIBUTED THEIR BIT AND NO ONES EFFORT IS DESERVING THAN THE OTHER. AND ALSO WE MUST BE CAUTIOUS NOT TO MAKE THE NPP LOOK LIKE AN AKAN ONLY PARTY. ONLY AKANS HAVE SO FAR LED THE PARTY. WHY NOT OTHER TRIBES WHO ARE EQUALLY GOOD.
but bawumia was already a running mate to nana addo?
