New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen, has asserted that Ghana needs a leader who embodies the Christian faith in order for it to make any significant progress in its development process.
According to him, the country does not need a president who is just a Christian by name but someone who is willing to lead like the Lord and Saviour of Christians; Jesus Christ.
Speaking at the ‘Mpaebo Kesie’ prayer session of the Parliament Chapel International (PCI) on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, Alan added that it was for this reason that he began his presidential bid with a call on all Christian leaders in Ghana.
“When I was starting (my presidential bid) I called all the church leaders for a breakfast meeting. After that, I also did a thanksgiving service.
“… I did this because I have come to realize that Ghana needs not just a Christian leader but a Christ-like leader. There is a difference between a Christian leader and a Christ-like leader,” he said.
Hon Alan Kyerematen threw light on the qualities that make one a Christlike Leader. A transformational leader, a servant leader, a compassionate leader, a Shepherd leader, and an ethical leader are what Alan terms Christlike Leadership.
Alan, a former minister of trade and industry, therefore, asked the founder and leader of the Parliament Chapel International, Prophet Amoako Attah, to pray for him so that he would become a Christ-like leader.
Hon Alan Kyerematen was in the company of Nana Ohene-Ntow, Hon Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Hon Adomako Kissie, Hon Frank Agyekum, and a host of others.
He also thanked the pastor for his prayers and support for his presidential bid.

This is the more reason why politicians need to have a campaign team on every area of politics. Mr Alan K did not mean Christians per se, but his statements create the impression that other religions are not relevant. He meant : God fearing people; not only Christians but Muslims, Buddhists, etc
Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah was very successful because he didn’t use the name of Christ in vain. We all hear what politicians do but they think that because we are religious they can use religion to deceive us. We are wide awake.
It is so annyoing and sometimes insulting when these politicians try to play religion in their quest for power. Tell me, how many of the developed countries have a christ-like leader when they made the progress they made? Instead of our us to be pragmatic and think forward, we are always playing the God card. I wonder the kind of God that Ghanaians wordhip and talk about. Definitely not the God who created heaven and earth, because that God, the true God gave mankind responsibility and to utilize everything he gave them.
"What a nation needs more than anything else is not a Christian ruler in the palace but a Christian prophet within earshot.” Kenneth Kaunda
Hmmmmm Sir its a good idea but some countries our so called leaders have been holidaying in and shopping at like the Dubai and co are not ''Christ like'' but they have move forward than us ooo. I hope we are not using ''Christ like'' as just a cliche' because those non Christ like nations are developed than us . It will be great if our leaders behave as such so we can get the results we need. The irony is that as a so called christian nation we are lagging behind those who are not ''Christ like''. The only reason could be that we don't practise what we preach. All we need are leaders who are willing to sacrifice for their people and not greedy for their own selfish interest.
