Van Vickers horror film, Bendu Sudan, premieres tonight at the Silverbird Cinemas.
Bendu Sudan is a film based on a popular Liberian scary folklore and persons who have seen the pre-screen viewing say it is simply breathtaking and can be compared to the good old horror films that made people have nightmares.
Bendu Sudan tells the story of a lady who fell in love with a married man who got her doped, gang-raped, pregnant and forced an abortion on her.
Though the abortion was successful, the lady died and her spirit returned to hunt down not just the man, but all men who maltreat women.
The mystical character, Bendu Sudan, was played by Faith Sonkarley while Van played a doctor.
The story of Bendu Sudan is very popular in Liberia, though there are several renditions to it.
The theme that cuts across the various renditions however is that Bendu Sudan is female mystical spirit that takes over beautiful ladies and uses them to punish men who are cheats, irresponsible or simply maltreat their spouses.
