Formerly known as Christina Love, award winning Gospel musician Obaapa Christy has had a fair share of challenges that led to the break of a nine year old marriage with Pastor Love.
As it is often said, “if the fish comes out of the river to tell you that the crocodile has one eye, you should believe it”.
With her experience and relations with colleague musicians, we do not have any reason to doubt her recent utterance that most Gospel musicians in Ghana are facing terrible challenges in their marriages although she admits almost every marriage has its own problems.
In a recent interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM, the musician who seems to be enjoying her current marriage revealed a lot of her colleagues were suffering in their marital homes but are unable to voice it out due to where they find themselves in society.
“A lot of Gospel musicians have problems in their marriages …the challenge is that most of us are unable to voice our challenges simply because of where God has placed us.”
Although Obaapa Christy admits some marriages are very beautiful, she believes it’s extra difficult to marry a pastor.
“There’s no marriage without challenges but it’s tough to marry a pastor”, she said.
She also asked Gospel musicians to be careful who they settle with as marriage is not a race.
This came up when Abeiku Santana asked if it was necessary Gospel musicians married pastors who are perceived to understand musicians and their trade better.
Born Christina Twene, Obaapa Christy has nine albums to her credit and looks up to veteran musicians such as Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Georgia Adjei, Stella Aba Seal, Amy Newman and Nana Yaw Asare for inspiration and motivation.

What is this? Who said every marriage doesn't have its challenges. I beg make we hear tin. You didn't your own out well bcos you think it was a child's play. Das why you dress the way you want like 'those' girls and seduce men on stage bcos of what? After all, you even went on to marry another woman's husband, is that not too much? There is absolutely nothing wrong in a gospel musician marrying a pastor, it's even a privilege. You are not the only person who married one and run away; others are keeping their own marriages up till now. If you think you former husband messed up badly, then you did worse.
U think marriage is a bed of roses.every marriage has its own problems.why should gospel musicians come out and voice their marital problems like how urs ended up.such is a twerp.its better to solve ur marriage problems on a low key than placing it on public platform.no wonder u couldnt save ur marriage.u are here telling us marriage to a pastor isnt easy.my foot.
MARRIAGE IS HARD WORK NOT A BED OF ROSES SO YOU CANNOT CHOOSE TO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANTTO SAY .IT IS LEARNING TO COME TO A COMPROMISE TO SETTLE ISSUES AND NOT NO CONCERN NO MISGIVINGS .IF YOU WANT WHAT WOULD SUIT YOUR UNCOMPROMISING IDEAS YOU WOULD HAVE IT
Is it Because of Gifty Osei that is why you saying that. She plays too much
I have always seen you as a singer and not a gospel musician, so do not worry yourself
Kwaaaaa-s-i-a, which marriage hasn't got problems....or you think because you sing Yesu Yesu Yesu...everything would be smooth sailing...f0000l think again.
