Celebrated playwright, Uncle Ebo Whyte, has supported calls by the Church of Pentecost to discourage amorous pre-wedding photos.
His support is not based on the amorous nature of such photographs as faulted by the church, but the usefulness of the practice.
Speaking on Joy FM Monday, Mr. Whyte argued that the practice, which is alien to Ghanaian culture, has no significance at all to the marriage.
“I don’t care if the (pre-marital photo) is amorous or not but what is the point? I want someone to convince me if it is necessary beyond the fact that someone did it and others think that let us also do it,” he said.
He added, “I think that pre-wedding photos like a lot of the things get crazy and we need to think about them again and ask ourselves what is the point, where did it come from and what is the justification for it?”
Mr. Whyte further states that people engage in the practice “without thinking through why there is the need to do it because your wedding is coming on and you will have all the pictures in the world.”

...and the last time i checked [Jan. 29, 2019], this supposed couple [lady is a nurse] are no more together ...buttressing the point of "No Relevance of this acts on the Real Deal - Marriage"!
Uncle you have really earn more respect from me, i respected you but now its 105%. We just adopt ***barred word*** and practice without knowing how it will benefit us. Some Ghanaians must start thinking right
The whole concept of wedding is an unnecessary imposition on ghanaians by the church. Some churches try very hard to rewrite the bible to indicate that wedding in the church is the real marriage and without it there is no marriage. I once had a tall with the wife of the leader of one of the large churches on the agbogba road and when I told her I dont accept the claim of her church that marriage is done by the church but instead the interaction between the two families and exchange of gifts is the real marriage, she refused to subsequently attend to my complaint. The church has no power spiritual or legally to effect marriage. Wedding must be canceled completely it is a ***barred word*** venture.
Well said uncle. The pictures has no bearing or significance to the wedding. It just about someone did it so I also want to do it. What is much annoying is the fact that it is getting weird as time goes by. It must stop. It has nothing to do with our culture.
