Ghanaian actress and film producer, Yvonne Nelson, has disclosed that she is saddened about the poor governance by the current and past administrations in driving a monumental change in the lives of Ghanaians.
Ms Nelson, who was asked to rate the performance of the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government when she appeared on Class FM Monday, 4 November 2019 said “It’s the same; from the last government [National Democratic Congress (NDC], nothing new”.
In her opinion “leadership in this country…I don’t even know what to say because when I look around me, it saddens me to be Ghanaian”.
She said “we have so much potential, we have everything…There is this neo-colonisation thing going on. We are pretending; we keep covering things and the youth is sleeping, they don’t know what is going on, they don’t read, they don’t ask questions...
Ms Nelson noted that she may consider playing an active role in politics and will not rule out the possibility of being the first female president of the country.
Responding to social media comments about her involvement in politics after being vocal about several developmental issues the multiple award-winning actress said: “Maybe, I will, I will do some politics; it is 50-50 that is why I am back in school doing International Relations”.
Ms Nelson, who produced ‘Single and Married’ in 2012 and ‘House of Gold’ in 2013 articulated that she loves human rights and gender activism as well as tourism. For her, she would like to play an active role in the tourism sector and would not mind spearheading a tourism campaign.
Asked by the host if she was looking at being a Tourism Minister by 2028, she retorted: “I don’t know, maybe the President, you never know, the first female president of Ghana…God just…you know…he is guiding me so I am taking it slow”.
When pushed to confirm her interest in the highest office of the land, Ms Nelson said: “Maybe, you never know, one day”.

Dear Yvonne, i must say you have a short memory sorry to say that, there was Dum koraa now it's no more. again, your were dark and lovely now you are an Obroni. Definitely things have changed my sister
atleast you have got a man to impregnate you for free so something have happened
Heei, ivonne ASHAA*WE nelson LOOK AT YOUR LEGS ,HOW MUCH TAXE DO YOU PAY? ALMOST ALL FILM ACTORS AND ACTORESSES ARE TAX DODGERS YET COMPLAIN. ivonne, PEOPLE REFUSE TO APPROACH YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR SICKNESS HIV AIDS YOU HAVE. FOR HOW LONG DID YOU COME ACROSS DUMSOR?
A simple question pls: Have you changed, Madam? Have the attitudes of people around you changed? You and I are Ghana so if we don't change, Ghana will not change. If everybody continues to engage in dishonesty, corruption, nepotism, cronyism, blind-politicking etc as we have all these years, Ghana will not change. The change you want starts with you, the the people around you, then to the larger society.
NPP is In power and Ghana is hard no thing is working did you go for #Hardshipmuststop demonstration, if your party NPP has fail and you have something to tell them stop add NDC to their failure, NDC is not in power so what is your sense here, you forgot that you campaigned for NPP and Nana addo fulish girl
help change things by educating ghanaians to be disciplined like yourself
Go and ask Misbel if something has change for her.. Becos His kids are enjoying Free SHS.. There is noo Dumsor..U could have been paying more for water and electricity..Nurses are enjoying Free Allowance and getting employed after soo many years of unemployment..Some communities who dont have water now have bore holes and are enjoying water.. unemployment in the public sector has open.. For many years noo employment in the public sector..Teachers are also enjoying now..SOME Ghanaians have short memory.. It could have been worse under Mahama becos they messed up everything..
NSENFON PACK AND GO TO SUDAN,LAZY GIRL, WHAT HAVE YOU CONTRIBUTE TO HELP BUILD GHANA
Very true. The reason why I vote NPP is that when they are in power AKANS get employed. Again, when NDC is in power Ewes behave as though there is no law in Ghana. They drive any how, talk any how and behave arrogantly in everywhere they find themselves.
This Yvonne Nelson is just empty headed. Does she know what is a gestation period? It takes time for the effect of policies to manifest. She's not even aware of the poor economy Mahama left behind. It's being straightened out and time is needed but she was expecting miracles overnight. She can join Obinim's church to see miracles everyday.
