President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, 27th November, 2019 conferred Ghanaian citizenship on some 126 members of the African Diaspora, including wife of Legendary Bob Marley, Rita Marley.
The over hundred members of the Diaspora community qualified for the citizenship after reportedly living in the country for many years.
The ceremony was part of the series of activities commemorating the ‘Year of Return’.
The President urged them to respect and abide by the laws of Ghana; live in accordance with the tenets of Ghana’s Constitution; and guard jealously the country’s image.

It is great that at time that most indigenous Ghanaians think all is lost , our Brothers and Sisters from other parts of the world think there is hope to live and work in Ghana. It a challenge for us all to change our negative attitudes and Character to make our nation great.
This is the procedure to become a GHANAIAN citizen not thd type of which the ECOWAS nationals enter illegally and settle in our zongo and later call themselves Ghanaians and without any document to show want to be registered for Ghana card .Our Imams must be able to lead those ECOWAS nationals who come to Ghana to get proper documentation before declaring themselves as Ghanaians! thereby knowing our laws and the constitution and abiding by it. If Salifu Maase aka Mogabe was sworn in like this he wouldn't be insulting our leaders and chiefs, going to school here in Ghana doesn't make you an automatic Ghanaian you need to pass through processes, Salifu Maase should tell us who gave him a certificate to make him a Ghanaian since he was not born in Ghana but followed his cattle herdsman father who brought him at the age of 9 to Goaso? We will not allow ECOWAS nationals to take over this country with impunity! Go through the legal process to be documented that's all if even you came here at age 6 months you weren't born in Ghana and can't claim as being Ghanaian! The procedure has been set so get documented before you call yourself a Ghanaian and ask for Ghana card.
