Obuasi Ashgold started the Glo Premier League soccer season on a bright note when they managed a lone goal victory over visiting Bechem Chelsea in their match at the Obuasi Len Clay sports stadium on Sunday.
The only goal of the match came in the 23rd minute through a spot kick well taken by skipper Albert Asamoah after a hard pressed defender, Albert Adongo had handled the ball in his 18 yard box.
Chelsea who seemed undaunted by the early set back mounted incessant pressure on Ashgold but the defence ably supported by keeper Fatau Dauda managed to contain the situation.
When the second half resumed, the game became a ding-dong affair as both teams tried with efforts to find the net but to no avail however it was Chelsea who got the upper hand in the latter stages of the match but failed to level up the scores until FIFA referee Seidu Bomison of Wa brought proceedings to an end.
