The Internal Revenue Service has declared that the players of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars are eligible to pay taxes on their winning bonuses and allowances they gained in competitions.
Speaking on Asempa Fm, the IRS Boss, Major Ablorh-Quarcoo (Retired) stated that, Ghana does not discriminate in its taxing policy for employees on every income they earn.
He implored the Ghana Football Association to deduct the tax from the bonuses paid the Black Stars playing body in the just ended AFCON 2010 tournament in Angola in which the black Stars placed second.
Major Ablorh-Quarcoo also noted that the Stars are expected to pay taxes on the 20,000 dollars reward the President promised as token for their superb performance in the just ended AFCON tournament, explaining, every income from employment whether bonuses or allowances to employees are subject to tax. He emphasized however that Parliament can decide to exempt the team from paying tax.
