In-form Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sammy Adjei says he is struggling to come to terms with his continuous snub by the senior national team handlers.
Adjei has conceded one goal in three Ghana Premier League matches and sent signals of recapturing his old form.
He has emerged first choice for Hearts who are contenders for the Premier League title.
Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic invited him in June for the Nations Cup qualifier against Congo at home but the gloves man has since not been recalled.
The Serb looks content with youngsters Ernest Sowah and Daniel Agyei for make up his final squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The 31-year-old believes he has done enough to return to the Ghana squad.
“If I remember the sacrifices I had to make for my country in the past, tears swell in my eyes anytime I think about my current situation,” an emotional Adjei told the 90 minutes newspaper.
“It was my love for the national team that made me lose my position with my club as they warned me not to come for a particular international match and I disobeyed them. That is where my woes started.”
He added that: “I’m not saying I’m better than those in the national team but what can they offer that I can’t.”
