Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is delighted that the Black Stars have progressed to the quarter-final phase of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-1 draw against Guinea in their final Group D game.
Despite the progression many Ghanaians are unhappy with the performance of their representatives at the 28th edition of the continental showpiece. However, the leading striker of the Black Stars is urging their fans to calm down because every game comes with its own style of play.
“Two years ago it happened,” the Al Ain marksman said in a post-match interview. “We were winning with one goal and people complained. It happens.”
The 26-year-old has allayed fears of the fans that the four-time African champions will crash out of the competition when they face Tunisia in the quarter-final on Sunday.
“Tactically we are disciplined. People playing Ghana play like they are playing the final. We have to keep our heads up and continue playing. It looks easy outside but on the field it’s different,” Gyan pointed out.
