The Volta River Authority (VRA) on Friday supported the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) with an amount of GHc25,000 to help broadcast the ongoing African Cup of Nations Tournament (AFCON) in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.
GBC is the only station that has been given the mandate to transmit the soccer matches live on both radio and television to fans throughout the country.
Speaking at a presentation ceremony in Accra, Mr Kweku Awotwi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the VRA said the amount would help the station to bring the event live to the homes of Ghanaian soccer fans.
He expressed the hope that soccer enthusiasts in the country would enjoy the tournament, wishing the Black Stars the best in the competition.
The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation was charged an amount of twenty million Euros to broadcast the tournament and Vice President John Dramani Mahama appealed to the VRA to assist sponsor the GBC to air the AFCON matches to the public.
