Captain Asamoah Gyan is confident of making a full recovery in time to play for Ghana in the finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Al Ain ace failed a late fitness test to remain on the Black Stars bench in the comprehensive 3-0 win over hosts Equatorial Guinea in the semi final match on Thursday.
Gyan’s absence was not massively felt as Ghana’s opening group defeat to Senegal as Jordan Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso and Andre Ayew scored to put the result beyond doubt in the game troubled by crowd violence.
There is however a growing feeling the 29-year-old will be badly needed by Ghana in Sunday’s grand finale against Cote d’Ivoire in Bata but the Ghana camp have remained tight-lipped on the health status of their captain.
Gyan is however very optimistic of playing in the finals which is barely two days away.
“Right now I am responding to treatments and it is going well,” he said.
“It’s just about three days to the finals so we will see.”
