Former Ghana skipper, Stephen bids farewell to playing football with a testimonial match to crown his career.
As part of events for his testimonial match, a fund raising event was held at the State Banquet Hall on Friday night in Accra to kick start the game.
Asamoah Gyan, Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto'o Fils and Appiah's former team mate, Guissepi Colluci were all in attendance at the fund-raising dinner ahead of the testimonial match.
The Black Stars captain in the company of his manager Samuel Anim Addo pledged $60,000 to support his former captain in the fund-raising drive.
Before the arrival of the Black Stars captain, four time Africa player of the year, Samuel Eto'o also pledged $50,000.
Appiah's former team mate at Cesena, Guissepe Colluci also donated $10,000 during the event.
Gyan, Eto'o and Colluci, were all given signed balls and framed jerseys from Stephen Appiah.
Many other individuals and institutions including former Black Stars players, members of the GFA and other notable Ghanaians made several contributions in the fund-raising event.
Asamoah Gyan will lead Black Stars select side against Stephen Appiah XI at the testimonial match on Saturday.
