Head coach of Ghana's female U17 side the Black Maidens, Augustine Adottey has hinted that he will be leading the team to demonstrate at the premises of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for neglecting the team during the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.
According to him, the young girls as well as the management members had to go through hard times to prepare for the World Cup in Jordan and was catastrophic during the tournament itself.
Adottey added that the Sports Ministry refused to pay the per diems of the little girls for all the period they spent in Jordan compelling the management to sign undertakings during most of their transactions.
The indignant Adottey has therefore revealed that he will be leading his side in a demonstration at the sector ministry for the treatment meted out to them.
"It is sad the situation we went through. We qualified for this tournament in March but were neglected by the Ministry since that time. We were not supported to play any friendly match. At the tournament too we were made to feel like strangers," Adottey told Happy FM.
"Each member of the team including the players was entitled to a $100 per diem but we never received anything. Qualification bonus for the tournament since March has not been paid and qualification bonus from the group stage too, same."
"I think the Sports Ministry wants us to demonstrate for all Ghanaians to know that they don't care about girls and for torturing us," he added.
The Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye had said in August that his outfit was unable to buy tickets for Black Stars players to fly down to play the AFCON 2017 qualifier with Rwanda because they were chanelling the resources to help the Black Maidens World Cup campaign but the reverse is the case.
Ghana lost their quarter final clash to the Republic of Korea by 2-1 after strenuously picking up to beat USA and Paraguay to qualify for the quarter finals following their opening game mauling by Japan by 5-1.

Why is it that when the ladies go for any tournament they are treated badly by the ministry. The current minister is only interested in fighting the GFA. You have a team playing a tournament and they are there without their per diem, what would they be thinking on the pitch when they are playing the game. When it comes to ex gratia every government have money to pay for it but when it is salary for non politicians then there is no money. SHAME on all politicians in this country
This is what baffles my mind when people who are supposed to know better are talking like serial callers. We live in a nation where Grass root Football is totally collapsed. The FA/Government doesn't care about developing talents. The league is nothing to write home about. We couldn't even get sponsorship to begin with. look at how curuption is the other of the day in our league centres. We have the FA who is fighting with the Sports Ministry. Yet we blame Avram for everything? We can't be serious. I heard Kwaku Yeboah asking coach Sarpong if Avram Grant been organising training for local coaches as part of what the FA contracted him to do. And he said no! Must this be organised by Avram or must the FA have programme for the year where it will be mandatory for the coach to do that? In any serious community; Job Descriptions are given; Targets are Set and Plans are laid to achieve the Targets. Check with with all the Advanced FAs and you will testify to what I'm talking about. It sad to hear some of this so called Sports Presenters and how they analyse and criticise. I hope they will sit one day and listen to how F00OLISH they sound with their arguments and submissions. Instead of channelling the opportunity to call for accountability and grass root development of the game with all the money people have been squandering, they just talk about the coach this, the coach that! How can you build a better house without a good foundation? I remember all the various radio presenters calling for Avram Grant to stay in Ghana, what must he stay to monitor? Any games ongoing in Ghana? How many local players are in the national team? The local league is collapsed but we don't hold anybody accountable. Where are the Cost Leagues? All lands are sold for stores and properties. SAD for Ghana!!
