The former Black Stars coach, who was fired in 2014, has submitted his CV for the vacant position.
Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has officially submitted his application for the Black Stars job following the departure of Avram Grant, Goal understands.
The 56-year-old, who currently manages Sudanese side Al Khartoum, became Ghana's coach in 2012, replacing Goran Stevanovic and becoming the first indigenous coach to qualify Ghana to the Fifa World Cup in 2014. He was sacked few months after the tournament.
Appiah recorded a total of 12 victories, ten defeats and five draws during his two-year stay with the Black Stars, including a semi-final qualification at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
Ghana FA has set up a six-member committee to appoint a new coach.
Italian coach Fabrizio Ravanelli, who previously managed French side AC Ajaccio and Slovenian Slavisa Stojanovic are among over 70 coaches who have also applied for the job.
Ghana have appointed 31 coaches since 1958, including 23 foreign and eight local.
Goal understands that the successful candidate will be announced before the end of March.

tank god for akwesi appiah we need you badly.
Jobman what has Akan got to do with this? When were you brought from the jungle? We recently celebrated our Independence as a nation state not a tribal or linguistic state I believe we should treat all tribalism as treason because it undermines state cohesion and unity? Have you ever traveled to outside of Ghana? and if you have did you travel on your tribal passport? Are you a partaker of the secessionist group at Ho?....declare yourself wanted ONE GHANA....FORWARD EVER!!!
AKWASI APPIAH, PLEASE WITHDRAW YOUR APPLICATION. YOU ARE NO GOOD FOR THE JOB. YOU DIVIDED THE TEAM WHEN YOU WERE THERE. THATS WHY WE ARE SUFFERING NOW. PLEASE WITHDRAW YOUR APPLICATION
We have bunch of people in the leadership positions they don't know what right and good for the nation and they're wasting our resources for nothing itching our ears with so many ***barred word*** issue. What have they seen so far from KP that encourages him to submit application or because npp is in power? Or a Akan job . One should remembers that since WC tragedy, we haven't got supporting enthusiastic back so we don't have a team yet so anyone who would think that local coach is a solution to problem he hasn't wake-up yet. Until we start believing and respecting one another uniqueness, that means we love one another accepting every tribes is unique and humans, local coach is wtime wasting.
