Hearts defeated Kotoko in Accra for the first time in 8 years. The following are few observations made from the game which was won by a Vincent Atinga penalty kick.
BAD OFFICIATING DECIDED THE GAME Another week, another big game decided by a poor refereeing decision. Referee Sucker, center man for the Ghana Super Clash decided the game when whistled for a penalty for a nonexistent hand ball.
THREE BACK WAS THE MAGIC Kotoko have been playing the 3 back system all season. Fans have been crying for the coach to tweak his formation.
Today he played a back 4 with Eric Donkor and Amos Frimpong as fullbacks flanking the center pair of Naffiu Awudu and Ahmed Adams. Kotoko did play well and didn't deserve a defeat but it's still remain a fact that Kotoko lost the day Zdravko Logarusic decided to listen to fans call.
AKURUGU VINDICATED HIS COACH'S DECISION Benjamin Mensah has been Hearts' first choice keeper this season but Nuttal decided to go with Akurugu for this game. The keeper pulled fantastic saves to deny Kotoko on many occasions. Nuttal will be proud.
FRANK NUTTAL PROVED Frank Nuttal ditched his 4-4-2 for a 4-3-3 in the first half. He was quick to react in the 2nd half by subbing on attacker Patrick Razak for a midfielder Daniel Kordie. Razak made the then one sided game even. Razak tormented Kotoko's left back Eric Donkor prompting Zdravko Logarusic to bring on Atta Kusi to assist Donkor.
Another sub that was spot on was the coming on of Cosmos Dauda. The striker added more muscle to the Hearts attack. Emmanuel Gyamfi is fantastic.
The petite winger has been one of the stand out players in the season so far and what he was exhibited this afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium only proved pundits right.
The 26 shirted man was a joy to watch. He terrorized Joshua Oto'o, Hearts' left back all game.

For once, Kotoko's usual Otumfour penalty against opponents got awarded to Hearts.
Yes bad penalty but what did Kotoko do with all the chances they got. That one too be juju abi. No wonder they will always call foreign players for national assignments . Nooooooon/se.nse
Stu__pid analysis.
Daavi Asante and Otikoli please let us all be objective. We want the best for Ghana Football, and our referees, have a big role to play. If we condemn bad decisions, i think it will help the referee in his future matches. The referee didnt have the benefit of several replays from different angles but please dont encourage things that are not good. You are not helping the referee to learn from his mistakes and it can have effect on our football.
I ALWAYS SAY IF THERE WILL BE TROUBLE IN GHANA IT WILL COME FROM OUR PRESS MEN AND WOMEN. THE HEADLINE FOR THIS MATCH IS VERY BAD. KOTOKO HAVE BEATEN HEARTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITH PELNAITIES AND THAT IS OK. IF HEARTS HAVE BEATEN KOTOKO WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL THAT THE PRESS WANT TO PUT THE POOR REFREE INTO HATE. I WAS AT THE STADIUM AND I HAVE WATCHED THE SLOW MOTION SEVERAL TIMES THE BALL HIT THE HAND OF THE KOTOKO PLAYER. WE KNOW HOW LIFES HAVE BEEN LOST IN GAMES OF THIS TWO CLUBS AND THE PRESS MUST DESIST IN THIS BAD HEADLINES AND ONE SIDED STORIES.
THIS REFEREE SUCKER IS A DISGRACE TO ASSOCIATION FOOTBAL AND THE GHANA REFEREE ASSOCIATION IN GENERAL.WAS HE WEARING A WOODEN SPECTACLES OR WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP HEARTS OF AOK OUT THEIR TROUBLES?NO WONDER GHANAIAN REFEREEES ARE NOT RESPECTED WORLDWIDE.
Ask yourself why no Ghanaian referee has ever been invited to any international tournament.Have the rules of the game changed so that when the ball hits a players back it is a penalty call? And the man had no shame,no regrets,no remorse at all.The f001 had made this decision long before the match started.I'm sure he'll get away with this dishonest decision. Ghana; corruption is the air we breath.
what sort of rubbish headline is that? who told you the penalty was a bad call? Are you a kotoko supporter or a neutral journalist? Rubbish
And so what? Not too long ago in Accra, Hearts whipped kotoko 4-0. What is one nil to hearts?
