Black Stars head Coach Kwesi Appiah will maintain Asamoah Gyan as the captain of the senior National team.
Reports were rife Gyan could be stripped off his captaincy which could pave way for Andre Ayew to be named as the new skipper for the side.
Appiah has however revealed he will stick to the UAE-based attacker as his captain.
“Nothing has changed Asamoah Gyan remains captain and Andre Ayew is his assistant. Let's support them,” he said.
Gyan has been the General captain for the Black Stars in the last four years with Ayew serving as his assistant.

PLS EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT QUALIFIES ONE TO BE A CAPTAIN. ARE WE LOOKING AT LONG SERVING PLAYER IN THE TEAM ? PLS AYEW DOES NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A CAPTAIN.
stop this assistant captain hullabaloo, it is not a presidential position whereby the vice takes over when the president is no more. Assistant captain yes, but anyone can be appointed when the substantive captain is no more with the team. therefore assistant captainship is not an automatic position to becoming a substantive captain
