Ghana international striker Asamoah Gyan has met the head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah following the team’s captaincy row.
Gyan, who quit and subsequently retired from the national team following Appiah’s decision to make Andre Ayew the captain over him in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, tweeted pictures of his warm meeting with the coach on Tuesday, 28 May 2019 at an unknown location.
Present at the meeting was Gyan’s senior brother, who is also an ex-Black Stars player Baffuor Gyan.
The all-time leading scorer for the national team rescinded his decision to quit the Black Stars 48 hours after the intervention of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Asamoah Gyan is not a leader. It was good he was stripped of the captaincy. If you coach has discussed issues with you in private, and you feel dissatisfied why don't you go back to him to discuss the issues further but you decided to go public. Do you think you will be captain forever? Somebody handed over the band to you so will you hand it over. I admire the coach for his matured stance in the whole issue. He kept his composure. ASAMOAH GYAN MUST KNOW THAT THERE IS A LIMIT TO HUMAN ENDURANCE.
See how he handles women! You will realise that he has NO discretion ato all! I dread his old age!
