James Kwasi Appiah, former Black Stars Coach has thanked Ghanaians and all players during his time as Head coach of the senior national team.
In a statement signed and released on Sunday, he said his association with the Black Stars, first as a player and subsequently as a coach, has been the source of immense pride for him.
“Through the years I was in charge, I worked with my backroom staff to lay the strong foundation required for others to build on, towards a better future and success for the team.
“I thank the President H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve the nation. I also express my appreciation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the Ghana Football Association for their support,” he said.
Kwasi Appiah’s contract as coach of the Black Stars expired on December 31, 2019.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) terminated the contract of the 54-year-old and technical staff of all the national teams.

Eiii, did the contract "expire" or was it "terminated"? Poor journalism
Kwesi Appiah, your 2 year contract ended December 2019 and nobody fired you. Even if you won the African, and World Cups during your contract period you had the right not to renew your contract --neither is the GFA required to renew your contract. Enjoy your retirement.
Extremely no mistake from the decision makers.i think Kwesi has expired.the whites coaches are good because they dont allow the boys to control them.Kwesi was too slow ,excuse me ,a little afraid or timid to control players like Jordan.Dede like his father Adedi is too much and always kills himself for Ghana.but other players, null!!!!.Kwesi, you try but im sorry, the mistakes was too much.
Massa, make we think. What did you achieve? You just came to chop our money. Financially it was very rewarding for you and your family as you made in a month what you could not make in several years.SO gratitude in that direction is in order. As for your legacy the least said about it the better as it only raises further the question whether local coaches have what it takes to compete out there with the rest. Your tenure convincingly answered that question in the negative and made it very clear that if we have to achieve growth and progress for Ghana football then there is only direction to look: foreign coaches
