Heading into the 2022/23 Premier League season, Ghana international Thomas Partey had not been able to show what he was capable of for Arsenal regularly, largely down to injury frustrations.

This year has been a much different one for the Ghanian and the North London club will top the Premier League table over Christmas as the league now takes a break for the World Cup, with Arsenal five points clear of their rivals.
The Gunners have won 12 of their opening 14 matches. They have drawn one game and suffered just the sole defeat so far. As a result of that excellent start, Arsenal are second best in the football odds at 11/5 for the Premier League title, with just defending champions Manchester City ahead of them in that market.
Mikel Arteta’s side are likely to be one of the leading football naps today for when they resume their Premier League campaign against West Ham on December 26. They have won seven of their last eight matches in the league, and Partey has played his role in that run of form.
Ghanian Star the Central Figure in Midfield
Arteta has frequently opted for a 4-3-3 formation this season, with Partey trusted with the role of playing the heart of the midfield. He has scored two goals already in the campaign, which has meant he has doubled his tally since joining the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid.
Partey’s experience in the second half of the season is going to be very important for Arsenal. He won La Liga and the UEFA Europa League during his time in Spain, so he knows what is required to get over the line.
The two-time Ghana Player of the Year is in contention for all the leading individual awards for Arsenal and in the Premier League during the latest campaign. He is showcasing why he is considered one of the all-round midfielders in world football.
World Cup A Chance to Shine on the International Stage
Partey will now concentrate on helping his country perform at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They reached the finals of the tournament after overcoming rivals Nigeria in a playoff earlier this year. Ghana has been drawn into the same group as Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. The aim will be to progress into the knockout stages of the competition, at the very least, on their return to the tournament.
The event in Qatar will be Partey’s first appearance at a World Cup. The Black Stars failed to qualify in 2018. It will be a big moment for the Arsenal player who deserves his place alongside the world’s best in the tournament.
Ghana will need to improve on a disappointing effort at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in 2022. They failed to make it past the group stages in that event, finishing bottom of Group C behind Morocco, Gabon and Comoros respectively.
Partey will be hoping this season ends with success for both club and country. It looks set to be a huge six months ahead for the talented midfielder.
