Black Stars captain Andre Ayew says the brouhaha surrounding Portugal’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo does not matter to his side.
"It is not our problem what is happening within the Portuguese team," he said at a presser ahead of Ghana’s World Cup opener with Portugal at Stadium 974 on Thursday
Ronaldo announced he had parted ways with the Old Trafford club by mutual consent on Tuesday following scathing public comments he had made towards the United hierarchy and coach Erik ten Hag.
According to Ayew, his side is well-focused and will deliver
"We go into this game with Portugal's favourites on paper. But we have to show that it is more important what happens on the pitch. We are playing a big side with top players, but we believe in ourselves and will make it very difficult for them," he said.
"When you are playing the first game of a tournament it is never the decisive one. Whatever happens, you still have a chance to go through it.
"The first game is one where you can go for it and be brave. It would be a great bonus for us to get something (from the match)." He said

I urge the black stars players to put in their all in this match. We can beat Portugal, yes we can. If Saudi Arabia can beat Argentina, then Ghana can equally beat Portugal. Just believe in yourself and remain focused. Looking at the caliber of players Ghana has assembled for this particular tournament, if they fail to go past the group stage then they should as well stop participating in football tournaments. Am told this team has a lot of young players so they should rely on their speed to outwit Portugal. Today names do not play football, it's all about team work. This is what has kept Germany on top. Ghanaians are already suffering due to the mess politicians have plunged the country into. Our only happiness for now is a black stars with against Portugal and Uruguay. At least we can laugh and smile for three days with empty pockets.
