Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is gradually losing his credibility as the leader of the country.
According to him, the President’s stance on the banning of vigilante groups in recent times has exposed him to be the “Commander in Chief of his party’s militia group”.
Peter Boamah Otokunor was discussing President Nana Addo’s refusal for mediators to be included in an attempt to end party militia – he said, the President is behaving like a “rebel leader”.
To the President, Ghana does not need external mediators to disband militia or vigilante groups within NPP and NDC.
The National Chairman of opposition NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo had requested the Chairman of the Peace Council be appointed a mediator in the dialogue to disband vigilante groups while others had proposed the UN among others.
“In addition, in view of the often recurrent mistrust and suspicion that characterize such interactions by political parties, and the pain and suffering that vigilantism may have created especially in the recent past, it is of the utmost importance that a mediator with national credibility be appointed to drive the entire process. In that regard, my party, the NDC, propose that the National Peace Council be appointed as the mediator for such a meeting,” Ofosu-Ampofo stated in his letter to the President.
However, in a reply to the Chairman of the 'Umbrella' family, Akufo-Addo said he is “dismayed” about the suggestion since the two parties can dialogue over the issue.
“I am dismayed, and I believe that the Ghanaian people share my dismay, that the two parties who have dominated and continue to dominate the politics of the Fourth Republic, who between them have garnered at least 95% of the votes in each of the seven (7) general elections of the Fourth Republic, who have provided all seven (7) Governments of the Fourth Republic, who are the only parties currently represented in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic, cannot meet to dialogue on matters of our nation’s governance and political culture, without the intervention of outsiders, including foreign entities, no matter how well-meaning,” Akufo-Addo stated in a reply to the NDC.
The deputy Chief Scribe of the NDC has however confirmed to NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ that the NDC has again written to the President insisting that there should be a mediator in the dialogue to disband vigilante group.
He was adamant to tell if the NDC will still join the dialogue progress if the President refuse the inclusion of mediators.
He opined the President ‘is in bed’ with his party militia – a reason why he is dragging the dialogue process.
“If the President is more interested to be the Commander in Chief for his party vigilante group, then he should step aside for that position so we deal with him as a rebel leader than a President. The President cannot stay in office and be controlling militia group, we will not allow that and its dangerous,” he told host Akwwesi Aboagye.

look at DOG teeth I wont blame you democracy is cheap that's why
Former President Mahama who did not behave like a rebel leader did not deemed it fit to find a solution to the vigilante menace. The President that has the courage to call for its disband and even set up a committee to look into a by-election violence which has never happen before is being called a rebel leader. God have mercy. Now everybody is talking, why did not people talk after all the incidents in atiwa, chereponi, talensi, etc. It must be noted that people talked at the time but the presidents at the time including John Mahama did not care. The earlier you sit down with NPP the better for you. If you think you can use the vigilante issue to score cheap political point then think again because NDC did not do anything about party vigilantes during your time in government. The people of Ghana are watching and God too is watching you.
look at such a bloody fuuuuuuls with iron mouth talking in fact politics in ndc is for an1mals
NDC CHOICE OF WORDS TO DESCRIPTE THE PRESIDENT WHEN SHARE THEIR VIEWS ON TOPICAL NATIONAL ISSUES LEAVE MUCH TO BE DESIRED. IF NOT HOW COULD THIS GUY WITH THE TEETH OF AN EXCAVATOR HOE DESCRIBE THE WHOLE SITTING PRESIDENT THAT HE IS LIKE A REBEL LEADER. NPP MUST RETURN THE ARSENAL ON JOHN MAHAMA IN LIKE MANNER TO MUDDY THE POLITICAL SCENE. AFTER ALL BOOT FOR BOOT IS THEIR MANTRA.

I tell ndc this your trick will never work for you ,if you are relying in your a Hawks. hyenas, Snakes, Parrots for election 2020 you must equally be ready and rely on coffins since ndc are not ready to disband them we will also never let them sleep, their movement will be watched with eagle eyes and most of them will use wheel chairs because of broken legs from gun shots ! Ghanaians will never sit down for the ndc to harm them, what happened at Ayawaso the worst will happen to you! you can't go to elections with arms to win, elections is debate, issues, what you can do for the country not what the country can do for you like the ndc want! Look at Otukorno's face and who will vote for such a character to enjoy in Ghana! look at all these present day ndc faces and see which face has been successful in life for Ghana to be handed over to them? just look at them! Ghana will never Go for Mahama instead of Akufo Addo, you think we have short memory like ndc foolsoldiers we remember the dumsor, we remember the kidnappings of our girls, we remember the azorka boys and the Hawks who are being sent out there to harm Ghanaians, we remember the hardship that Ghanaians went through during ndc era which even some sold their kids for money, we remember the industries that closed down, we remember the 200 community day SHS which only 29 were completed, we remember the suba, sada , gyeeda nkomfem runaway to Burkina, we remember Akua Donkor's house and car we remember Mzbel and Afia Schwarzenegger, Mr Beautiful, Abeiku Santana etc we remember where money meant for development went during ndc era, we remember the inflated contract sums and we remember Ashanti bauxite giving to Ibrahim for free! We have a lot to remember and a lot to be reminded about the ndc!ndc will rot in opposition!
Stingyyyy Mouth!!!!
My President just use executive powers to disband all these vigilante groups and let's see happen. As far as I know, NDC is never ready to compromise. Just use executive powers and enforce it into law that from this day vigilantism is equal to rebel group and all this hullabaloo will cease.
