Randy, 56, was the only original judge left, after first joining Idol alongside Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell in 2002. The new line-up is yet to be confirmed, but it is said there will be four judges sitting on the panel.
Pop diva Mariah Carey has already signed a megabucks deal to join the show. While hip-hop star Nicki Minaj is also in the running for a spot at the table.
And country stars Brad Paisley and Keith Urban are being considered to ensure the show pleases its core viewers in middle America.
